A Family Business with a Love for Meaningful Play
Welcome to Puffino Toys, an Irish family-run online toy shop based in Cahersiveen, County Kerry.
We’re parents of three wonderful children — two boys and a girl — and, like every family, we know how precious childhood is. We’ve experienced the different stages of growing up, from the curiosity of early childhood to the growing independence of older children. Along the way, we’ve seen just how much children can discover when they’re given the time, space and freedom to play.
Puffino Toys began with a simple thought: what if we could help more families rediscover the kind of play we remember from our own childhoods?
We remember toys that encouraged us to build, create, imagine, experiment and make up our own games. Play didn't always need a screen, flashing lights or instructions telling us exactly what to do. Sometimes, all it took was a few building pieces, a puzzle, a game or a favourite character to start an adventure.
Watching our own children play reminded us of the value of these simple experiences. We wanted to make it easier for other parents to find toys that encourage the same curiosity, creativity and hands-on discovery.
That idea became Puffino Toys.
The Story Behind the Puffino Name and Logo
At Puffino Toys, our name and logo are more than just a way to recognise our little family business. They reflect our connection to County Kerry, our love of nature and our belief that every child deserves the freedom to explore, imagine and discover the world in their own unique way.
A Little Puffin with a Story to Tell
The puffin in our logo has a special connection to the place we call home. Living in beautiful Cahersiveen, surrounded by Kerry’s green landscapes and the Atlantic coast, we feel lucky to be close to some of Ireland’s most remarkable natural places.
One of those special places is Skellig Michael, famous for its dramatic island scenery, rich history and wonderful seabird life. We have had the pleasure of visiting Skellig Michael ourselves, making the puffin an even more meaningful part of our brand’s story. Seeing these remarkable birds in their natural surroundings reminds us of the beauty, curiosity and individuality found in nature.
We wanted Puffino to have a friendly, memorable identity with a little character of its own. The puffin felt like a fitting symbol: distinctive, full of personality and connected to the wild beauty of our part of Ireland.
Green Trees, Blue Skies and Colourful Ideas
The colours in our logo are meaningful, too. The green tree reflects the natural landscape around our home, with its fields, trees and beautiful shades of green. The blue brings to mind the sea and sky that are such a special part of life in Kerry. And the colourful letters add a playful touch, celebrating the colour, creativity and imagination that make childhood so special.
Together, these elements express what we want Puffino Toys to stand for: a welcoming, nature-inspired brand with a playful spirit and its own unique identity.
Our Belief: Less Screen Time, More Meaningful Play
We live in a world where screens are an increasingly familiar part of children's lives. Technology has its place, but we believe children also need opportunities to play in their own way, use their hands, move, experiment and let their imaginations lead.
